Two runs facing each other down a corridor. Efficient to cook in and the cheapest shape to fit, because there are no awkward corners to engineer.

Two runs meeting in a corner. The most common shape in South African homes, and the one that benefits most from a proper corner solution rather than a dead cupboard.

Three walls of storage. Maximum worktop and cupboard space for the floor area, and it keeps everything within a step or two.

A run plus a freestanding island for prep, seating or the hob. Needs about a metre of clearance all the way round to actually work.

The kitchen stays presentable because the mess lives next door. A scullery adds cost but it's the single most requested change we're asked for.
